Landing pages are important while doing SEO. In fact, it is the single most important factor when a webmaster is trying to do a pay-per-click (PPC) campaign for his or her website. The three seconds rule is very important in any landing page. The rule says that it will take only three seconds for an average user to bail out from any website if he or she doesn't get the information needed. Therefore, it is absolutely important that the user gets the right information in less than 3 seconds.

This also means that whatever information the user wishes to get needs to be above the fold meaning that it has to stay at the screen the instant the website loads. If the user has to scroll down to get to the necessary information, then the webmaster is doing it wrong. To test this, do it on a screen with a 1024×768 resolution.

A landing page should also have the information on what the user can do next. This information needs to be big and eye-catchy just like a newspaper headline. If it is bad, then chances are less people will buy the newspaper but if the title is something striking, then a lot of people would go ahead and buy the newspaper and this works just the same with a landing page.
